REDS NARROWING THE GAP

Rafa's big day out

It was about this time last year that we were in the same situation with our final qualifying Champions League tie and we had a quick glance at the reds odds for major trophies.

Let's face it - the bookies don't put their money on the wrong horse often so we thought we would compare last season's odds with this years.

Last season (odds at 23 August 2005)

To win Champions League: 25/1
To win Premiership: 22/1
To win FA Cup: 9/1
To win Carling Cup: 9/1

This season (odds at 22 August 2005)

To win Champions League: 15/1
To win Premiership: 7/1
To win FA Cup: 13/2
To win Carling Cup: 7/1

There has obviously been a massive improvement in the reds in the bookies eyes in the last season. The reds are actually 7th favourites to win the Champions League (impressive considering we haven't actually qualified as of yet).

An interesting bet is that Everton are 15/1 to get relegated (the same odds as the reds to win the Champions League). How about a double: Everton relegated - Reds Champions League. If you stick a tenner on it - the £2,560 you get back will certainly pay for the big party we'll all have!)

Many thanks to for supplying us with detailed odds for. You can get a free £10 bet when you register with them.
