TRANSFER OUTS AND INS

The reds have today said Goodbye to two strikers, meanwhile negotiations over bringing in a defender have stalled.

Neil Mellor and Florent Siname Pongolle today both left Anfield, meanwhile Liverpool finally made a concrete bid for Blackburns Lucas Neill only to see it knocked back.

23 year old Neil Mellor today moved to Preston North End on a 3 year deal. Despite not playing as much football as he would have liked during his time at Anfield, Mellor will never be forgotten by the Liverpool fans after netting one of the three 'comeback' goals against Olympiacos and sending Arsenal crashing to defeat with a memorable last minute strike in the Premiership at Anfield.

Meanwhile French striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle has agreed to sign a one-year deal with Recreativo Huelva, the Primera Liga side said on Wednesday. The side were newly promoted last year.

Liverpool have made a concrete offer for Lucas Neill of 2 million pounds but this has been rejected initially by Mark Hughes at Blackburn.

Jan Kromkamp is expected to move back to his native Holland at PSV Eindhoven - one of the reds opponents in the Champions League.

Tottenham are expected to launch a late bid for Harry Kewell who could be out of Liverpool and Benitez plans.

Salif Diao may also follow Pongolle to Recreativo Huelva.

Rafas massive cull at Anfield seems to be nearing completion after two years in charge.

UPDATE: Jan Kronkamp moved to PSV Eindhoven for £1.2 million. No compromise was reached over Lucas Neill after Rafa refused to sanction Stephen Warnock being swapped for the player and £2 million. Salif Diao stays.
