RAFA AND RONALD POST MATCH

Rafa: Draw was fair result

Rafa and his PSV counterpart Ronald Koeman have spoken following the 0-0 draw in Eindhoven both agreeing the result was about right.

Rafa:

"We didn't score but we kept a clean sheet. For us, after seven games in 21 days, the result is OK. We cannot play all games at 100 per cent.

Today we really worked hard in defence and then went forward to create chances. We know the players and quality of PSV and so a draw over here is, if you beat them at home, a good result.

We were very compact and disciplined in midfield and our goal was to cut out PSV passes, break at speed and score on the counterattack.

If we play at this level in our other Champions League games we will win."

Koeman:

"We played reasonably well but I think a point each was a fair outcome. We had a lot of space to exploit, especially in the first half, but Liverpool played with two blocks of four in defence and midfield who stuck close together and made things difficult for us.

We were waiting for one moment which never came but at the same time didn't want to fall into a trap they might be setting for us.

Champions League games are of such a high level and we had to play too many balls backwards rather than forwards; next time we have to be more attacking as we have to get more points on the board."
