An open letter to the LFC management

Man United today clinched their 15th title championship as Arsenal lost 3-2 to Leeds United at Highbury.

No Liverpool supporter could forgive United their 8th title in 11 seasons – it is an astonishing achievement, and Man United are now only 3 titles behind Liverpool’s record of 18 championships. To be fair they have been a fantastic side to watch over the past decade.

In the spirit of competition therefore we urge the Liverpool management to think very carefully about the present situation.

Liverpool’s continuing lack of consistency is, in the main, due to too many average players wearing the shirt – Houllier has certainly brought Liverpool back to its core qualities – discipline, pride in the liver bird they wear and good old fashioned hard work. However, the spark is missing. Anelka disappeared to be replaced by Diouf. Poor decision. Unfortunately one of numerous.

Gerard, you have brought core beliefs back to the squad – core beliefs which all Liverpool fans in every corner of the globe are to be proud of. Beliefs that we think Liverpool Football Club stand for. But now is the time for action. Weaker players must be purged from the squad. Quality footballers must be brought in to replace the weak. This season has seen Liverpool’s worst home record for nearly half a century and to think that Liverpool fans see a ‘will they wont they’ qualify for the Champions League as the end to an exciting season is plain wrong. This season has been a major disappointment.

Mr. Houllier, you have done great things for Liverpool FC – you have given us back our pride but now is the time to deliver. On this website we have been among your greatest supporters compared to some of the other more narrow-minded sites. We represent the fans – and the fans are getting restless.

You have one more season. Don’t waste it.
