Professor Everton wheels out more Anfield garbage

The press have been full of stories today insisting that the proposed investment by Dubai Investment Capital in to Liverpool rests heavily on the ability for Liverpool and Everton to ground-share.

Once again the papers have proved to be talking utter nonsense.

Although our underlings across Stanley Park may have had their spirits raised by such ‘paper talk’ the fact of the matter is that Liverpool Football Club will not be involved in subsidising Everton’s move from their crumbling stadium.

Liverpool have consistently been against a stadium move, holding out all the time under the threat of removal of European funding, but here we are and Liverpool’s new stadium has received planning permission and European money has been earmarked for the project. The only deal waiting to be done now is the final financing of the stadium. We don’t need Everton.

So where do these stories arise from? The man who has consistently been wheeled out for TV and press interviews is Professor Tom Cannon, either the Kingston Business School or University of Buckingham expert (according to which rag/TV station he is quoted on).

Brian Reade in Saturday’s Daily Mirror pointed out that he was the man who insisted Man United’s Champions League exit would cost them around £50 million in lost sponsorship deals – before they signed the Premiership’s biggest shirt-sponsorship deal. He also predicted Malcolm Glazer would definitely not buy Man United.

The problem, with this so called expert, is that he is a die-hard Evertonian – heavily involved (at least recently) with the board of directors. What qualifies him as an expert to talk about football investment in light of his track record is beyond us. Today Professor Goodison said:

“In the last three years, Liverpool have averaged a profit of £1m-£2m. Even if DIC are looking to increase the profits to £20m, the only way I can see them doing it is by building a shared stadium. A hotel and other facilities would bring in a certain amount of money with one team, but with two they could make a lot more money.”

Wishful thinking my friend.

Our advice to Sky, and the tabloids who constantly wheel out this Evertonian on a personal agenda is simple:

Don’t. Ask an expert instead.

Most Liverpool fans abhor the idea of sharing a stadium with Everton. The Liverpool board abhor the idea of sharing a stadium with Everton. It’s not going to happen. Besides haven’t the blues got themselves a lovely plot of land somewhere in Lancashire.

Some more Tom Cannon facts

In the past he has claimed:

1. Everton have the best educated fans in the country! (has he ever been to Goodison on Derby Day?)
2. Everton are the 3rd best supported team amongst UK plc Directors
3. Everton have one of the most geographically diverse sets of supporters in the country. (Ooh, and how their fans love to beat US with that stick..)

Have a look at his self-important website – but don’t ring his mobile number….

  1. Joe, Liverpool….obviously you don’t know a lot about your local geography. Kirkby is in Liverpool. Try going there tomorrow and telling the locals that they’re wools, go on, I dare you.

Good luck in your move to another of our old grounds……you’ll be playing at Goodison next!

And as for Andy S, yes, Goodison has seen better days but Anfield’s hardly the best stadium in the world is it. It never has been. At least Goodison was the best league ground in the country in its heyday, something Anfield never has done and never will be. Even the new one, if the pictures published are anything to go by, probably won’t even be in the top 5 stadiums in England. Oh how your aspirations have lowered.

  2. kopite4life, Ha Ha Ha, see evertonians we are still the wittiest supporters by far F#cking class lad.
Steven Mill, Anfield a shed, have you been to Goodison recently, if anything looks like a shed that run down corrigated piece of sh#t is doing a fine impression. You see you used to own Anfield when it was a dump (why you blue noses still bang on about this beats me), but we took over, we won things, and we made a great stadium worthy for all those special European nights. And now we are about to go to the next level, I know its hard for you but things are just going to get better for the Red men of Stanley Park. (Every Little Helps)

  3. To the tune of scouser tommy…

Can i tell you a story of a poor team
who where sent far away from there home
to live in the sticks of knowsley
where only the cattle do roam

They were banished to a lower division
Had know hope of seeing far foreign lands
the fans swarmed around in their hundreds
with their tesco bags in their hands

Oh a battle it started next morning
    Over at aisle number 1
    Oh those poor evertonian bastards
where scrapping over the last bun

As they lay on the aisles of the tesco ( of the Tesco)
Knocking over the cakes and the bread
    and the bread!!!
As they lay on the aisle of the tesco
These where the last words they said

” Oh we are the evertonians,
Our ground is made of wood
    Were horrible bitter bastards
cause we’ve never been that good.
We support a team thats dressed in Blue
Its a team that no-one knows.
A team sponsored by tesco cause thats were we buy our clothes.
    1,2 1,2,3 1,2,3,4 pound off

  4. Steven Mill, have been to Stanley park in the last few years. It is a sh*t hole and will get a new lease of life by us building the new ground there. You say it will lose the run down sports centre but in fact it will be replaced by a new one joined onto the stadium.

The park itself will be regenerated along with the rest of Anfield.

In regards to us moving into Anfield after you. You should have paid you rent then you silly sods.

    Bitter like a lemon.

P.S Cant wait till you have built your Tesco extra value stadium in Kirby. You beauts dont belong in Liverpool. I wish you were going futher, but Knowsley will do.

  5. You redsh*te b*stards are all the same, full of yourselves and from scandanavia or somewher lyk that. So what does it matter if the investors arnt local because most of the fans inside of analfield on a match day arnt scouse or even english. Evertonions dont complain that the manager shoul be sacked one minute after a loss and then claim hes the best in the world after a win. Were loyal to our club and the city of liverpool. Ok this guy dus chat sh*t because why would us evertonians wanna share seats with a bunch of pr**ks anyway. You all depise chelsea because you claim theyve brought the league take a good luck at yourselves… desperate for the same thing to happen to you.

  6. This guy got to be the craziest nut in the world to suggest that we share a stadium. He can keep on dreaming but it is never ever going to happen.

  7. Liverpool fans are thugs. History tells us that – it’s what they are best at. A new ground will not eradicate that mentality, and if the truth was known, Everton fans don’t want ground share just as the red sh*te fans don’t. We don’t want to be associated with their thuggery.

  8. Well the Prof’s probably got half the story right “With two clubs, DIC can make more money”. But if the Prof is half as clever as everyone else, he should know that Everton cannot afford the cost of moving to the new stadium as LFC would suggest a sharing of their planning cost etc. And that is even the sharing concept is accepted.

  9. So you don’t need Everton??

Funny how you “needed” Everton to even exist in the 1st place?? If we hadn’t moved from that shed you call a ground you wouldn’t exist

You will always be our bas*ard child and no moving grounds will ever change that!

If you think its fine to sell the history and heritage of your club to some Arabs then more power to you! It goes to show that Liverpool FC will do ANYTHING to have their little ground and that includes knocking down a school, a public park and the only sports centre Anfield has! But most of you “Liverpool” fans wouldnt care about that would you – coming from Suffolk and Devon etc its not your local Community that is getting destroyed is it?

I wonder what Bill Shankly would say about the current board selling out to Arabs ???

  10. Heard this prat talking on tv, and thought i could smell bull! now i know he is a bitter blue, it all falls into place. Al maktoum is a winner, he and his organisation have done their homework, Liverpool are a world brand and the necessary millions will be poured into the club to ensure it wil be number 1. Remember bluenose Cannon, sheikh al has got more money than you can comprehend, more money than you can count (which is probably only 10 anyway). Crawl back into that s**thole (Goodison) you came from and stop talking s**t on tv, thinking that people will listen because you wear brown crusty suits and you have a title before your name. You probably know as much about football finance as Bill Kenwright (f**k all).

  11. Just a quick point for John Davies, noting that everton currently hav 2 england internationals and both played in the last england game, so i guess were well behind you that stakes! so maybe its time you got educated.

  12. Unlikely we will be fielding a non-English team soon eh with three current England internationals – Carragher, Gerrard and Crouch in the side eh? How many England internationals have Everton got.

And why should we be ashamed – we’re not selling our soul.

I refer you to Tom Cannon’s fact number 1. You have provided the perfect counter-argument to it.

  13. Ah how blissful argent are our Stanly Park so called friends are. As Liverpool head directly into same pathetic state as Chelsea are in, with endless millions and a chip the size of America on its shoulder, you have to shake your head in their direction. With a club history as rich as yours i really hope u understand what your doing before its to late.

Everton have been invested in of late, and it has been done the right way, a small part of the club bought. Not had millions pumped into it and the demand of success behind it, Mr Earl has has based his money on a sound investment, willing to help Everton achieve success through progress over time rather than over night.

As a club which is heading further and further into a a team giving up all their English traditions, it will not be long before you and Arsenal will be in hand and hand fielding a non English team. Liverpool are dead the pride of English football history (and thats comes from an everton fan. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  14. hahahahaha

Evertonians get funnier and funnier everyday

Keep on dreaming Tom my bitter blue friend, because none of your bulls**t will become a reality
