Adam Lallana scored his second goal of pre-season before James Milner fired a late winner to ensure the reds maintained a winning start to pre-season.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, now also joined by first team coach Gary McAllister, selected a stronger opening XI for Liverpool - with many players pushing their match time to at least the first hour.

The reds went 1-0 behind at the Suncorp stadium but it was against the run of play - with Liverpool  looking generally composed - and the new boys in particular looking keen to impress.

Joe Gomez, the talented 18 year old signing from Charlton, was playing in only his third favourite position - left back - but was one of the stars of the half.  Determination going forward matched only by perfect positioning and control in defence.

Mid way through the half Adam Lallana received a ball at the corner of the area - cutting inside on to his right foot he sent a perfect curler into the corner of the net to equalise.

The second half saw more decent play from the reds.  Milner looked controlled throughout the game and appears to be forming a good partnership with captain Jordan Henderson.

A handful of substitutes arrived on the hour - with some of the youth players getting a chance to shine.

With 15 minutes left on the clock it was fitting that Milner grabbed the winner - he forced his way through the box before firing his shot past the keeper.

More substitutions followed.  Jordan Ibe went on a powerful run forward but didn't get the goal it deserved.

A good result for the reds, an increase in match time for many of the senior players and pre-season continues to progress.
