FA PREMIERSHIP 07/08
LFC MATCH REPORTS

Liverpool improved on last season's total by 8 points - finishing 11 points behind champions Man Utd and 11 points ahead of 5th placed Everton. The reds lost only 4 times this season in the league - our 5th lowest number of defeats in 104 football seasons - but 13 draws cost us.

Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool
Steven Gerrard scores the reds late but deserved winner to break Liverpool's opening day jinx.
Sunday 19th August 2007 (4pm)
Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea
Torres scores a great goal on his debut but it is the referee who awards Chelsea a nonsense penalty.
Saturday 25th August 2007 (12:45pm)
Sunderland 0-2 Liverpool
Momo Sissoko scores the reds 7000th league goal before Voronin makes the game safe. Carra and Hyypia both get injuries.

Liverpool 6-0 Derby County
Another two goals for Torres, two for Xabi, Babel's debut goal, another one for Voronin, another clean sheet - oh and top of the league.

Fernando Torres equalises late on to keep the reds unbeaten Premiership record intact - but it wasn't pretty.

A Sami Hyypia own goal before the reds, and Dirk Kuyt, converted two penalties. Everton were also denied a last minute penalty - just to add to the thrill.

Arsenal played great football but they left it till the 80th minute to equalise against the reds.

Liverpool's coyness in front of goal led to a draw against a side riding high in the league.

Substitute Fernando Torres scored a late goal before a Gerrard penalty ensured the points when the reds way.

Liverpool cruised past a poor Newcastle side and the scoreline flattered the Geordies.

Another easy win for the reds, as Bolton were put to the sword at Anfield.

Liverpool suffered their first defeat in the Premiership after a lacklustre display at Reading.

Another disappointing result against United who scored from their only shot on target.

A fine performance from the reds after two Premiership defeats to stop Portsmouth winning a seventh consecutive time away from home.

Derby County 1-2 Liverpool
This wasn't the easy game it should have been but Steven Gerrard popped up in the 90th minute to bag all three points for Liverpool.

Liverpool saw out the year with a game of total domination. That's right check the scoreline again. One. Of. Those. Days.

Liverpool threw away two points when Titus Bramble scored in a disappointing start to the year.

Fernando Torres was on hand to salvage a point for the reds as their poor Premiership performance continues.

Liverpool 2-2 Aston Villa
The reds failed to take their chances, went 1-0 up and then were hit by two sucker punches. A late Crouch goal avoided total embarrasment.

West Ham 1-0 Liverpool
A 93rd minute penalty ensured Liverpool's miserable month ended with the reds taking just 4 points from 15 and the title challenge is over for another year.

Liverpool 3-0 Sunderland
The scoreline flattered the reds but the first Premiership win of the year arrives, unfortunately about one month too late.

What - you weren't expecting anything else than a draw? As at Anfield the reds were the better side but failed to get the win.

A Fernando Torres hat-trick helped the reds continue their Anfield revival.

Rafa's first victory at the Reebok and the reds first win there for 6 years.

Liverpool put in one of their strongest Premiership performances to hammer West Ham in the crucial 'game in hand'. Torres hat-trick.

Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle United
The reds extend Kevin Keegan's misery with another dominant performance to keep hold of 4th spot.

Liverpool 2-1 Reading
Not the finest of Liverpool's last 7 winning games but the reds came back from an early 1-0 deficit to take a vital three points.

Man United 3-0 Liverpool
Liverpool certainly choose their moments to put in a woeful performance. Ending any faint red hopes of number 19 and sending United on the way to number 17.

Liverpool 1-0 Everton
Fernando Torres scored 6 minutes in to his first Merseyside derby in a game that Liverpool dominated for the entire game. The scoreline flattered Everton who the reds moved 5 points ahead of with this win.

Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool
Peter Crouch sent Liverpool ahead as the reds played their second of three games against Arsenal in the space of a week.
Sunday 13th April 2008 (1.30pm)
Liverpool 3-1 Blackburn Rovers
Another comfortable win as the reds continued their excellent end of season league form. Torres grabbed his 30th goal of the season.

Fulham 2-0 Liverpool
Jermaine Pennant scored his second goal of the season to send the reds on their way as a Liverpool XI made light work of relegation-threatened Fulham.

Birmingham 2-2 Liverpool
An under strength Liverpool side give relegation candidates Birmingham a two goal lead before crushing their hopes with a late surge.
Sunday 4th May 2008 (4pm)
Liverpool 1-0 Manchester City
Fernando Torres scored for his 8th consecutive Liverpool home game to equal Roger Hunt's record.
Sunday 11th May 2008 (3pm)
Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Liverpool
Andriy Voronin and Fernando Torres ensured the reds ended the season on a high note. Torres 24th league goal sets a new record for the best debut season for a foreign player in English football.
