£7 million says Cisse is coming back

Djibril Cisse could well be heading back to Anfield at the end of the season as Liverpool appear to have slapped a £7 million price tag on the French striker.

The reds are determined to secure a decent price back on the player they splashed out £14 million early on in Rafa Benitez’ reign.  The deal, you will remember, was concluded by then manager Gerard Houllier.

The Frenchman’s year at Marseille has not gone too well – with some of the fans getting on his back.

Djibril Cisse however seems that his career with Liverpool should not necessarily be over insisting that he would relish a return to Anfield.

Speaking to the French press Djib said:

“I never said that I wanted to leave [Marseille]. There is an option to use or not. We haven’t talked about that yet. There will be a time when we will sit down and talk.

“If Liverpool ask me to come-back, the conversation is over. Let’s wait for them. It is a lot of money, it is risky. But I know myself and I would pay the 12 million euros for Cisse.”

£7 million says Cisse is coming back

  1. Liverpool for 2 years with Cissé
–> UEFA Champions League, European SuperCup & FA Cup

    Liverpool without Cissé
    –> … *crickets*… *tumbleweed*

No passion for the game or the club…? Did he not get married in a Liverpool red tuxedo? Who the hell is writing this? The man LOVES Liverpool.

  2. Dunno why the British Press are talking about OM not wanting Djib. Cisse has had a good season, scored 15 goals in 28 matches and all the fans back him. he scored a brilliant goal on saturday and now OM have finished 2nd and are in next season’s CL.

Cisse will be at Marseille next season..

  3. Cisse is one of the best strikers in the world Liverpool need him back he has lightning pace and can finish well which we are lacking with bellamy. kuyt and cisse would be a great partnership rafa should give him another chance!!!!!!

  4. I think he is a fab player and should come back for LIVERPOOL and it will make most people more happy and joyfull , and to make a impresive come back.

  5. cisse is 30 times better than bellamy we must bring him back he got 20+ goals in his last season a thing that would take bellamy 2 seasons to do

  6. Clifford

    4/5/07

in my opinion cisse shuold be given the chnce to once again play for liveropool i suggest this since being a supporter for 54 years plrease consider this very carefully. thsnk you

  7. I think that Cisse has the potential to become one of the best players in Liverpool FC history, along with Gerrard, and needs to come back to our team…no questions asked.

  8. if cisse comes back to anfield his definetly gonna be one of the best strikers. And may slap liverpool into the F.A. final next year
so i think 7 to 9 million is worth it for are young cisse.

  9. Cisse is the best and he is quick and Cisse`s career at liverpool was the best .i think u must replace bellamy with cisse .With cisse reds have won many cups like uefa champions league on 2005, fa cup on 2006 and after injury of cisse at world cup send him on marsellie was a mistake and i would like to say plz do not sell cisse or loan him give him a chance, cisse is an key for liverpool fc and reds need him forever the french man.

  10. cisse is one of the top strikers about he has got the pace the power and gile to trouble most defenders i mean he scored 20+ goals in his last season while being asked to play out of his natural postion and being subed alot of the time a bit like gerard at the moment he scores and plays better in his natural postion not on the right as cisse was asked to do alot of the time i belive cisse is the man we need attacking goal he is still young and has alot to offer more than our current strike force i have to say yes he has got to keep his thoughts in house and get on with it and yes he must play as an out and out striker verdict YES WE SHOULD BRING HIM BACK give him a chance to put it right

  11. cisse is a good player but thats it, we need top class players now to compete with chelsea and united. cisse cannot finish, bellamy is just as bad. fowler i am sorry to say is just as bad. we need a world class number 9.

  12. With the spending money now available to Rafa, if we were to take Djibril back, wouldn’t he just be keeping the bench warm for most (if not all) of the season? I mean he will never play ahead of Kuyt or Bellamy anyway, but couple that with the fact that Rafa is entertaining the idea of bringing at least 1 world class striker to the club (i.e. David Villa), I think keeping hold of Cisse would be a major waste of everybody’s time….I think an asking price of around £4 million is more realisitic……..

  13. Let’s face it, the man is too prone to injury. He has suffered horrific breaks to both legs in a short period of time. He’s a bit of a kieron dyer for me – promises a lot, but ends up nursing knocks all season in the stands.

  14. cisse is one of the top strikers about he has got the pace the power and gile to trouble most defenders i mean he scored 20+ goals in his last season while being asked to play out of his natural postion and being subed alot of the time a bit like gerard at the moment he scores and plays better in his natural postion not on the right as cisse was asked to do alot of the time i belive cisse is the man we need attacking goal he is still young and has alot to offer more than our current strike force i have to say yes he has got to keep his thoughts in house and get on with it and yes he must play as an out and out striker verdict YES WE SHOULD BRING HIM BACK give him a chance to put it right

  15. personally im not to bothered if cisse stays or leaves, but one player rafa should’nt get rid of is sinama-pongolle as he has alot of pace and is able to score goals, he didnt do to much in the past but he helped us to beat luton and now he has more first team experience fron la liga i think he will be ready for the prem and to play an important role in the first team.

  16. as much as he is quick, and much more useful playing centre forward. the guy’s just not got the mentality to cut it in the prem. he moans and complains constantly, he must be a pain in the arse to train with! ultimately he’s a decent player at best, with a shite attitude, and thats not good enough is it??

    tara djibril!

  17. Cisse was not the type player Liverpool needed. If he had the class, I dont think OM would not take right to sign him next season. What we need is to sign a quality winger like C Ronaldo who could beat the opponent and creat chance for teammates or score goals by himself. Remember we have been waiting for 12 year for the title, it was not dream to see Liverpool to capture the first ever Premiership title back to Anfield next year.

  18. there is no doubt that Cisse is a quality player, but i am afraid just not for Liverpool, he has no passion, for either the British game, or more importantly, for the club. “Leave him where he is Raffa”

  19. Cisse was a mistake, end of story. He was bought from French football by a Frenchman who must have felt he could weave him into the team somehow. That never happened as Houllier wasn’t here long enough to see the ink dry on the contract and Benitez clearly has a set idea of the style of football he wants us to play…. and it isn’t the pedestrianised style that Cisse enjoys.

Prior to joining Liverpool, Cisse was top scorer in French football for three seasons on the bounce. Since then he has had two broken legs, recivered from them and returned to full fitness but despite playing for a good team in French football, he has been unable to show anything like the form that made Houllier think he was worth a ridiculous £14 million. His 4 goals this season are a poor return for a striker, even in the small number of games he has actually played.

If he wants to play football he either needs to persuade his current paymasters that they should fork out £7 million for him or some other team to do the same. One thing is for certain, he was, is and would always be a misfit at Anfield and has no chance of being a part of what Reds fans believe is shaping up to be a much more glorious future than the last 14 Premiership years have been.

  20. I must say that I have always been quite a big fan of Cisse. I think that for some reason Benitez does not quite fancy him despite his 21 golas for us during the last campaign (something that neither of our current strikers look like reaching). I definately think Cisse coming back to Liverpool is a great idea as he has pace and strength and a little bit more quality than Bellamy in front of goal. All Cisse needs like all other great strikers in the premiership (e.g. Drogba and Henry) is one or two seasons to settle. So as a squad player, Cisse can add a lot of value.
