Liverpool v Toulouse: Match Preview

Toulouse FCLiverpool (1) v Toulouse (0)
UEFA Champions League Qualifying Rd 3 Leg 2
Tuesday 28th August 2007
Kick off: 8.05pm at Anfield
Live on ITV1

Liverpool will shortly face Toulouse in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League 3rd Qualifying Round. The reds are 1-0 up thanks to an Andriy Voronin strike.

Preview

Toulouse have won one of their first 4 French League games, interestingly against champions Lyon. They haven’t won since the last time we met two weeks ago when a Voronin strike separated the two teams.

In honour of the recent death of 11 year old Evertonian Rhys Jones, Liverpool will play Everton’s traditional anthem – the music from Z-cars, for the first time at Anfield. A 1 minute applause will also take place in his honour and the players will wear black armbands.

Team News

Liverpool’s captain (broken toe) and vice captain (broken rib) are out. Liverpool have doubts over Sami Hyypia (broken nose). Peter Crouch and Yossi Benayoun are expected to play – they both played against Toulouse in the away leg. Arbeloa and Agger may be chosen for the centre of defence.

Match Betting

Liverpool start the game as favourites to win (3/4) with Toulouse at 10/3. The draw is 11/5.

The bookies seem a bit unsure as to the extent of a Liverpool victory with a 1-0 win (5/1) a 2-0 win (6/1) and a 2-1 victory (7/1) all strong favourites. A Toulouse 2-1 is rated as a 14/1 chance. If you think we will hand out a hammering you can get a reds 5-0 demolition job for 80/1.
