Jermaine set for move away

So says The Times, who insist that being left out of the League Cup squad was the ‘final straw’ for Jermaine.

Rafa Benitez was keen to offload the player in the summer, but it was claimed at the time that Jermaine Pennant did not want to face such a severe wage cut.

Reports suggest Benitez has grown tired of Pennant’s timekeeping and lifestyle, according to the newspaper. Both Blackburn and Stoke were interested in the player in the summer and assuming he can be more realistic about his wage demands – the £7 million Anfield failure could be off.

Pennant has only started twice in the Premiership this season, and with Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel and seemingly Nabil El Zhar all ahead of him in the pecking order for the right wing his Liverpool future is almost certainly over.

  1. I was actually really happy when he came, not now!

He is a waste of money! A fool and a drain on LFC!

If he spent as much time training as partying in London he could have been a decent player

He will retire and be forgotten before his 35th birthday. How sad! It amazes me how many talented footballers think they,ve made it and cant be bothered once they sign for a big club

  2. Pennant is class, he should be able to stay and definately have more pitch time. Rafa’s obsession with playing Kuyt on the right is ridiculous. We’d score a hell of a lot more goals with Pennant wide right and Riera wide left.
