Momo. No longer boss.

As if the summer’s PR stunt didn’t go well enough it looks like the reds board is set to cash in once more with the sale of out-of-sorts Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko.

Despite being handed a new 5 year contract in the summer the player has performed poorly for the reds and after a couple of alleged run-in’s with Benitez is looking to move to a new football club.  Despite interest from Inter Milan, it looks like Juventus are in the driving seat with Liverpool expected to be asking around £11 million for his services.

Speaking with a French radio station yesterday Momo said:

“The negotiations with Juve are close to conclusion.”

“I am waiting for news in the coming days and while nothing has been signed yet, I can confirm that there are advanced negotiations between the Bianconeri and my agents.

“Certainly I would be excited to go to Turin. It is a prestigious club, it would be a new challenge and I could demonstrate my quality.”

“I hope they can find an agreement. I am really happy that a club like Juventus want me. Right now, I want a new challenge.

“The last few months with Liverpool have not gone as I wanted. But this is the nature of football and I now have the chance to go somewhere else and show what I can do.”

Liverpool still maintain they have not received an official bid for the player, which makes Momo’s comments somewhat mysterious when he is contracted to Liverpool for 4 more years.

The reds still have not rubber stamped the £6.5 million transfer of Martin Skrtel despite Rick Parry spending yesterday with both Chairmen.

Do we have to sell before we can buy?  These were not the promises that we were sweet talked with last February.

  1. Juventus will never take him! No top club will pay for him the way he’s performing at the moment. All we can hope is that he has a good ‘African Nations’ and someone comes in for him in summer.

  2. You do have to wonder about leaving the signings of new players to Rick Parry. Remember the Stevie G debacle, when Parry went off on holiday and we nearly lost our greatest player to Chelsea.

Parry should be in there fighting for the funds that Rafa needs and finalising the deal for Srktel…it’s getting embarassing and all of our dirty laundry is being washed in public.

  3. juve is a loan deal with cash in the summer? I doubt Benitez would put the signing of Masch in doubt by signing an unproven 6m squad player? I dont think we would have been linked to anyone until a sale had gone through if it was a sell to buy policy
