Alonso wants to leave Liverpool

alonsoAccording to several reports today, newlywed Xabi Alonso has told Benitez that his future lies in La Liga and not at Anfield.

It is understood that the player has not handed in an official transfer request but has informed the Liverpool boss that he would like to move to Real Madrid.

Alonso is due to re-join the Liverpool squad on Sunday, and the reds have already rejected a £23 M bid for the player insisting he is worth far more in his current role at Anfield.

Xabi has 3 years remaining on his Liverpool contract, and whilst the news will dishearten Rafa and his plans for an assault on the Premier League – Liverpool and Madrid have some major differences on the valuation of the player.

Rafa Benitez is likely to take a hard line with the player and quite simply will not be bullied in to transferring the talented midfielder away from Anfield unless the reds receive a significantly improved offer.

Alonso wants to leave Liverpool

  1. Who whould wnna to go on a extreme diet ,anyone?. Eat however much you wnna, just remember to keep excercising

  2. Be gutted to see him go, but if his head is else where he is no good to us. Maybe look at Cattermole or the belgian lad Defour

  3. I agree that he is worth significantly more than what Real are offering but it needs to be sorted out quickly to give Rafa time to sort out a replacement. Replacing him will be very difficult but the quicker we get him out the more chance we have. Also now this has happened we need to keep hold of Mascherano. I dont think we can afford to lose both of them. It is a problem though because im struggling to think of another player who’s at least on a par with his talent in the same position. I dont know if this is true or not but i read Liverpool were interested in Lee Cattermole. Im not too sure about him though. Yes he is very young and got potential but will he ever be as good as Alonso?

  4. Go!!! Better go join Real since Alonso no longer have the heart to play for us. Rafa has to make this deal a very difficult one for Real & make sure every cents & dollar counts.
    No money no talk
Real Madrid pay us the huge money & Alonso can leave & join your club.

  5. Alonso will be sadly missed as he is a one off.
We must be strong with this deal and only top doller ( not American) will do to take him away. I can understand why he wants to go back to his country with having just got married and that. We will just have to win the champs league and prem without him.
Alonso — good luck to you mate you are and were fantastic entertainment for us but remember we will go on as we always do!
THE MIGHTY REDS LFC OUR HOME TOWN TEAM

  6. BULLSHIT 30 mil this is a player that is still contracted for 3years.
this move would inconveanience LFC so if its 35-40mil then thats what it is .
AYE if alonso wants to go so bad buy out your own contract or get his agent to chip in.

REAL MADRID WANTS CONTRACTED BUT THERE TERMS
    AS RAFA SAID THATS ARROGANT<<<<<

  7. What’s the point in keeping a player that wants to leave? I like Xabi, he’s been one of my favourite players for the last 5 years, however, we must not forget that players these days are just mercanaries. We like to think that becuase we’re Liverpool, those players that sign for us have got a bit more about them, that they are interested in playing for us becuase of our rich history and tradition and that they want to experience some of the magic associated with us. The truth is most of them could not care less.

Has our own club got anything about it when it sells out to two American clowns and continually rips off its own fans to the point where the real working class supporters are being replaced by more corporate fans? Despite the fact that we came closer to winning the league than any other time in 20 years, the atmosphere at anfield for most home matches was garbage and that is becuase the true fans are being excluded.

Football is a dog business. Chuck a few quid at a player and they’ll be off regardless of where their so called allegiances lie. Look at John Terry’s insistence on talking to Man City. And they call this guy Mr Chelsea? Thinking that our players are any different becuase they are Liverpool players is complete bollocks. A few weeks ago I posted an idea suggesting that due to our financial situation and becuase we may need proven premiership players, it MAY be worth looking at a player like Joey Barton. I said this despite him being one of the most hated men on merseyside. I was berrated by a few people for making such a suggestion which is fair enough, everyone’s entitled to an opinion. Since then though we’ve had Tevez say he could never join us becuase of the intense rivalry but then jump ship to Man City of all clubs, our one time favourite son Michael Owen has joined the mancs now we’ve got John ‘Mr Chelsea’ Terry on the brink of swapping stamford Bridge for Eastlands. nothing is impossible in football and every possibility should be considered, even if it means signing a guy you hate. That’s the bussiness that football ahs become.

  8. Sell him and mascherano i would rather we didn’t win anything than have players who dont want to play for us embarrasing the club . LFC is bigger than any player. All either of them has to do is come out in the media and say they want to stay but they won’t. Greedy ungratefull tossers.

  9. As a fan, I am disappointed to hear this, because Alonso was one of our best performers last season, but I think Rafa shot himself in the foot last summer by trying to offload Alonso to raise the money to buy Barry.

A player needs to feel he is wanted by the club, fans and manager.

He has been a great servant and considering the way he was treat last summer, I think he showed what a true professional he was with his performances last year

  10. Let him go Rafa if he insist, but should let him understand that liverpool football club is good at making the best out of players to become stars. Liverpool made him.The club will still make a good mildfielder, even better than him. His going will not blink our quest for the EPL, i can assure you of that. This will give players who can play his role great opportunity to showcase the stuff they are made of which Alonso denied them last season. But let him know that the club is not good at rescueing players career. So go go go go and return no more.

  11. OMG. If Alonso really think he does not belong to LFC heart…. Move along dude. You can go off to Madrid. He will be treat like Owen :-). What Rafa have to do is sell him around 35m pound. Get the money and buy someone out there that will stay Loyal and play with his heart to LFC no matter what happen. YNWA…..

  12. I’m really frustrated to hear Xabi wanting to leave but that’s modern day football still we should insist on no less then £35 million. With the new season approaching we’ll need to find an adequate replacement so must get this whole drama sorted out as soon as possible.

I’m still hopeful that it could be a rumour but if not i certainly don’t want an unhappy player with a long face harming team spirit.Let him go for the right price to a team where everything is a circus,he’ll regret the day he left us like Owen and Macca!

  13. this is disheartening news at the very least and it certainly ruined my day. i can’t imagine liverpool without xabi. but nevertheless, i understand why he wants to leave for real madrid. he’ll be closer to home and he’ll be surrounded with the best money has to buy, so he’ll definitely be able to end his career in style. but please xabi – don’t be too cruel in your goodbye.

  14. i can understand xabi wanting to return to la liga but where will he realy fit in madrids squad with lassana diara van der vart sjneider (awfull spellin) and a small matter of Kaka

    • Rafa, tell Real, give us Robben and Diarra and you can have Alonso, otherwise stop wasting our time. Even £30 million might not be enough to get the quality in, the price of any player we went for would be silly money. Tell Barcelona, give us Eto and 10 million and you can have Mash`. We will then have quality replacements to take us forward.

  15. Nooooooooo Dont sell him he is a very important asset in our club and his future shoud defintly lie at the prem and not bak in La Liga

  16. rafa must insists on keepin him and masche. they are vital players that will help us to get the premier league at anfield and even the champions league. fight , fight , fight rafa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. 30 Mil is the bare min that rafa should hold out for and then we should use it to bring david silva rite in , Alonso should be ashamed if he dose move to madrid , he will just b another player there nothing special and will probably be sold on in a year or two. He is a hero at Anfield but i guess the glam of a team full of bought in superstars and the chance to clash egos with some of the biggest head’s in the world is too much to miss…. But no thanks id take my beautiful club any day over that shower of crap ” All the money in the world and no class ! Real Madrid R.I.P. “

  18. First Owen stabs us in the back now Alonso rips out hearts..
Leave if u want Judas.. your gonna miss out on some good times if u do

  19. I am surprised at the way Alonso behaving towards the club and I hope when his days at Anfield are finally over, he will know he was at a club where passion means more than money. I will say if he wants to leave, then he should be obliged since the anger within him will not allow him to give his best to the club. Michael Owen left and we won the CL, maybe if he leaves too, we will the EPL! Alonso, we are Liverpool, WE NEVER WALK ALONE!

  20. No matter how useful Xabi was/is to our club we need professionals with their heart pumping RED SCOUSER BLOOD through their veins, proud to put on the liverbird on their chest week in week out, ready to commit their efforts, strength and loyalty.

Get the money we deserve till the last penny and let us move on.

    YNWA
