All bets off on Rafa departure

Several leading UK bookmakers have stopped taking bets on Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez leaving Liverpool FC.

There was a large number of bets placed this morning that Rafa will not be in charge at the start of next season and William Hill and Skybet are amongst the bookmakers who have stopped taking new bets.

The bookmakers are assessing their options before re-opening any bets.

Dale Tempest from SkyBet told Sky Sports News that odds on Benitez’s departure from the former Champions League winners had been slashed from 11/10 this morning to 1/4.

There has been constant speculation regarding the Spaniard’s possible exit from the Merseyside club, as contract negotiations remain at a stand-still.

Bets were suspended this morning at 09:30 GMT.

The only UK bookmaker currently taking bets on Rafa not being at Anfield next year is Ladbrokes, at 4/7.

All bets off on Rafa departure

  1. When asked about his position Rafa never gives a proper reply but there is no smoke without fire!.I feel things are coming to a boil now regarding his position at the helm which will sooner or later be sorted. This controversy began with the Barry and Keane deals where he wanted the former but was forced to settle for the latter.

Just been watching “You’re on sky sports” that was dominated by both anti and pro Rafa fans.Obviously Rafa wants more control over the transfers but having spent millions on rubbish like Babel and Lucas i can understand why the owners are reluctant to agree. That’s not to suggest for one minute that i am a fan of the Americans who have ruined the club and lied to the fans ever since they arrived.

  2. Rafa needs to commit now or go. I am not having this spoil our season! We are on our way to a trophy this season, and we need attentions on the pitch not off it. Unless Rafa decides now, it’s all going to fall apart again.

  3. Don’t really see the confusion here. Lots of people are expecting us to lose today. If we lose, Rafa also loses a lot of his negotiating power.

Sorry, but I’ve never been that big of a fan of Rafa, although I certainly acknowledge everything he’s done.
Coaches come and go and I fully expect him to be gone.

As much as I hate it, those who bet today probably got a good deal.

  4. get parry out, you watch us fold if rafa leaves this is just crazy it really is. and the guy to be treated like this before he trys to prepare his team before a huge game.

what a bad thing to do and let the man alone to work.

i hate this fcuking ownership thing, they have killed this club since taking over, and parry do not get me started on that cunt.

  5. I agree with POD, your spot on. This is ridiculous.

That press conference Rafa did about Ferguson was brilliant at the time, because nothing he said was untrue, but on reflection was probably not the best thing to do. Its time now to cut out all this bulls**t give Rafa a new contract and get Rick Parry and the Yanks out.

  6. I think this is insidious, and a spiteful act to derail our Champions League match tonight. It’s not paranoid to think that the pro manc media have had it in for Liverpool, since Rafa called Fergie out.

I’m sure Rafa was ready for anything Fergie could have thrown at him, but the fact that the revenge attack came from the loyal manc media instead is maybe something Rafa didn’t expect.

  7. I am a huge fan of Rafa but he has to commit his future now or leave to get some stability for the title push. If he leaves all his hard work on building a side to challenge will be for nothing,
