Difficult League Cup draw for Liverpool

After a tricky away tie at Leeds in the 3rd Round, the League Cup 4th round draw has been even more unkind to Liverpool.

Liverpool were dumped out of the tournament away in North London to Spurs last season, and we now face a similar trip having been drawn away at Arsenal.

The full 4th round draw is:

Blackburn Rovers v Peterborough United
Manchester City v Scunthorpe United
Tottenham Hotspur v Everton
Barnsley v Manchester United
Chelsea v Bolton Wanderers
Sunderland v Aston Villa
Arsenal v Liverpool
Portsmouth v Stoke City

Fixtures will be played mid-week on the 27th and 28th October. Expect the reds game to be televised.

Liverpool last met Arsenal in the League Cup in the 5th round in January 2007 when we were beaten 6-3 at Anfield. That match was just days after Arsenal had knocked us out the FA Cup 3rd Round, winning 3-1.

Liverpool have never won at the Emirates Stadium, and our last victory away at Arsenal was just over 9 years ago.

Difficult League Cup draw for Liverpool

  1. A good draw for both sides. Give us a chance to see how good our second string is against the great Arsenal kids we all hear about and a good chance for Wenger to see how his kids cope with a side like ours.

Hopefully we’ll be too strong but still a mouth watering prospect.
