Liverpool and Ribery rumour

Liverpool are being linked with a shock bid for Franck Ribery in a move which will have sent Real Madrid on the back foot.

Bookmakers have been closing their books on the Frenchman playing for Liverpool after a flurry of large bets on the proposed transfer move.

However, it is understood that Bayern have slapped an 80 M euro price tag (or £69M) on the player and this is certain to be out of Liverpool’s price range. The Telegraph continues to report that Chelsea are the preferred bidders and may chance their arm with a offer before the July 16th deadline imposed by Bayern Munich.

Other reports also suggest that it is a smokescreen, conducted by Real Madrid, to try to further unsettle Liverpool’s Xabi Alonso.

There has been no official comment from either club.

Liverpool and Ribery rumour

  1. Do me a favour, this story is bulls***! What are we gonna do sell Gerrard or Torres to get Ribery? complete nonsense. We need to face up to the fact that the club lays out over £30m per year in interest payments alone to service the huge debt that Gillet and Hicks have saddled us with. Now that those irresponsible banks have refinanced those clowns again, those interest payments will only increase. We need to sell a player of Gerrard’s calibre every season just to pay off the interest!

Our best hope is to try and keep the players we’ve got and make a few small gambles on emerging players. The Silva’a, Aguero’s, Ribery’s and Villa’s are a million miles out of our league financially. There’s been talk of Falcao from River Plate, Cana from Marseille and even Lee Cattermole from Wigan. I think these may more likely additions to the squad.

  2. Is there any player on the planet that Real don’t want for F sake!!?If they’ve money to burn than i’m making myself available for the sum of £1 million that is small change for their kind…..£2k per week as salary would be heavenly as i’m not a greedy fella!!.

It’s common knowledge that we don’t have the kind of money required to sign Ribery so i smell a rat!.Someone’s playing mind games and spreading rumours using the name of our club probably to unsettle our top boys!.Having said that i’m a bit disappointed to hear Rafa saying we won’t be making another big signing when only a few weeks back he said we’ve enough cash to sign another one without having to sell,i’m confused.I still want a forward or David Silva…

  3. Tevez ,Silva or better still ,,AGUERO is the perfect partner for Torres to strike total panic and fear to all premiership defences, why do we need Ribery for the right when Kuyt is fine, if it aint broke dont fix it. We also have great talent wiating to come through the ranks, but AGUERO would be first class..Please Santa Claus come to Rafa early!!!!!!

  4. don`t buy ribery because the price is too expensive. i suggest use the money to buy two young talented winger like david silva & aaron lennon. if got extra money can try to sign one more striker but need to sell other player like voronin, lucas, dossena, degen & just sign carlos tevez or luis fabiano also can make lfc be more stronger to get the epl title

  5. AS in my dreams ribery is playing for liverpool.
but then i woke up it was a dream. ooooo shit
he is the name being out their to devert the attention from the real signing .

ribery bullshit bookies will make a killing on this one thay set this rumour out their to get some money back from the big lose last week

  6. The truth is that we need stability at the club rite now not the loss of quality. Every time we’ve come close to the league we’ve ether bought bad players or lost really important ones and it’s forced us backward, the impetus should be to push on from last season and build the momentum for the league early on like we did last year and it helps if as a team you see the same faces around you !
As good as Ribery is i would much rather see alonso and mascha commit themselves to the club ( we all know 65 million is out of our reach anyway ! ), what we need to be doing is keeping the quality we have and adding quality , even if that means we only buy two or three in the summer.

  7. I think ribery is a good signing, but we must think about the budget, its better we get one more best striker transfer, and we give a chance for more dynamic young player at our academy…our future would be brighter..:)

  8. I just do not see any legs in this… we know he is a good player, but for me in a German league where Voronin looks good I’d like to see how good this guy is week in week out at high tempo football. I like the fact he really is an all-round wide man, someone that I could see down the right flank at Anfield, but for me the price that they are talking about is just stupid, in fact just crazy! And for me I’d rather buy two other players for the money.

  9. I getting sick of Real Madrid now bullying other teams to poach they’re best players. They’re being linked with Fabregas again now arent they. I wouldnt be surprised if it is a smokescreen by Madrid. What we need is for Xabi himself, and Mascherano for that matter, to come out and say i’m staying at Liverpool or i want to leave. I know the latter would fill Liverpool fans with all sorts of dread but at least it would be over then. Although we need them both to stay.

    • No Ciano, think we are better off with Alonsoand Mash than paying a crazy price for a player who could struggle in the Prem league, we dont need a lot of change to what we have and dont forget without Ronaldo’s goals for the manc’s we would be Champs. They (de mancs) have made great changes, i.e Ronaldo and Tevez out,, Owen and whoever in?????????????

  10. It’s dog eat dog with Liverpool and Real Madrid right now. I hope they get to play against each other next season and the Reds give them a good ‘iding!
