Rumours: Arbeloa, Leto and Dossena

Alvaro ArbeloaAccording to reports Real Madrid have made a £4M offer for Alvaro Arbeloa which has been rejected by the club.

The right back appears almost certain to leave Anfield after the arrival of Glen Johnson at the club and has been courting the Spanish club in various Spanish newspapers over the past week.  It is thought Liverpool have valued the player, who only has one season left on his contract, at around £6M.

Arbeloa saw his Spanish side crash out of the Confederations Cup and said before the final game:

“From Monday I’ll start to think about my future.

“I know my situation is in the air, and the only thing I know is I have one more year on my contract.

“But if there are any offers maybe Liverpool has to think about this because I have just one more year.

“It fills me with pride that Real Madrid would look at me. I’m flattered – it’s a great project with the return of Florentino Perez.”

Sebastian Leto looks like he will go to Panathiniakos for £3M.  The player failed to land the necessary documents to be handed an opportunity to take part in Liverpool’s Premier League fixtures and the club loaned him out to Olympiacos where he impressed, although had several bust ups with the manager.

Leto himself said:

“I am very close to joining Panathinaikos.

“There are negotiations between Panathinaikos and Liverpool and as far as I know the two sides are very close to a deal.

“I think that the possibilities of playing at Panathinaikos next season are more than 90 per cent.

“I have been waiting for something from Olympiakos all these weeks but they haven’t made a move for me so far.

“It’s not a matter of money. I wanted to stay at Olympiakos but since they don’t want to sign me I have to think about my future.”

And Andrea Dossena, despite his own goal against the USA last week, is adamant that he can secure a place in Italy’s World Cup squad.  He believes that the only way he guarantee a place is by playing regular first team football and is still sniffing out a move to Juventus who have yet to make an offer for the player.

The player’s agent said:

“It would be easier for Marcello Lippi to follow him if he was playing in Serie A which is why I said we would consider a move from Anfield.

“But Andrea is tied to the Reds for the next three years and it is up to them to decide.

“Fabio Aurelio is out injured now so we need to take a decision pretty soon,”

Rumours: Arbeloa, Leto and Dossena

  1. The only player who could be missed is arbeloa. Johnson has come in now so that will restrict his games but remember what happened when we let keane go!! Nando got injured and we had no proven striker to cover him. It could be the same situation I say keep hold of him

  2. they will remember wearing the true red of liverpool football club the best team in the world. they have to think did they give there all 4 the club all the time. good luck to them if they leave
