As expected, Liverpool tonight completed the signing of Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez from Ajax for £23M.
The 5 and a half year contract will see the player at Anfield until the summer of 2016.
The fee was agreed just before the weekend, hours before Fernando Torres handed in a written transfer request expressing his desire to leave Liverpool FC.
Suarez was at the club over the weekend, thrilled to be joining Liverpool, and has been handed the famous number 7 LFC shirt.
The player, who turned 24 a week ago has 16 goals in 38 games for Uruguay, and scored 81 goals in 108 appearances for Ajax.
Suarez becomes the first major signing since the arrival of the new owners, John W Henry and Tom Werner.
