LFC reserves stick 4 past table-topping Villa

After a disappointing 10 days for the senior side, the reserves provided a modicum of relief with a 4-1 away demolition of Aston Villa.

Villa, top of the reserve league, were unbeaten at home until Liverpool rolled in to town this evening, and four different goalscorers were on hand to give the reds victory.

Eccleston and Sterling were both named in the senior 18 man squad a week ago at Anfield, but it was Eccleston who opened the reds scoring tonight.  Eccleston was involved in the second too - his deflected shot finding Suso who doubled the reds lead.

Early in the second half, the man from Northern Ireland Ryan McLaughlin made it 3.  That man Eccleston saw his shot hit the post and Ryan got to the rebound first.

Villa dispatched a penalty before the reds scored our 4th of the game.

Raheem Sterling broke well, and played a perfect ball in for substitute Michael Ngoo to round things off for the reds.

Team: Ward, McLaughlin (Smith 90), Mendy, Wisdom, Sama, Coady, Suso, Roberts, Eccleston (Ngoo 81), Adorjan, Sterling.

Unused: Belford, McGiveron, Roddan.

  1. I would play them as well they might be able to show the 1st team the determination and passion that they are lacking at the moment and besides they couldn’t do as bad as our 1st team either!
