Brendan Rodgers is set to be handed an FA fine for his comments concerning Lee Mason in the festive clash against Man City.
Rodgers was incensed after the game in which a clear Raheem Sterling goal was horribly ruled offside, and also Luis Suarez was denied a late penalty in the 2-1 defeat.
His comments after the game focussed on whether it was wise for a referee from Greater Manchester to be officiating a game involving a Manchester club, in Manchester.
After the game he said:
"I thought they (the officials) were horrendous in terms of performance.
Hopefully we don't have another Greater Manchester referee again on a Liverpool-Manchester game."
Rodgers attempted to clear up matters indicating that he was not questioning the integrity of Lee Mason himself:
"It was more the logic of it in terms of having a referee from that part of the world refereeing a game in Manchester. I wouldn't suspect that Mike Dean, from the Wirral, has refereed many games for Liverpool over the years."
Rodgers has elected not to attend the FA hearing where the panel of footballing geniuses is likely to deliver him a fine and a warning.
Meanwhile down the M62, David Moyes is also likely to be meeting with his friends from The FA, after going slightly further after his clubs third consecutive defeat.
After United's 3rd consecutive 2-1 defeat, the former Everton boss said:
"We're having to play them (the officials) as well as the opposition at the moment. It's really terrible, it really is. We're actually beginning to laugh at them, that's the thing."
