Goals from Ben Woodburn and substitute Rafael Camacho ensured a 2-0 victory for Liverpool over Man Utd's youth side, coached by Nicky Butt.
The game held at Tranmere Rovers ground Prenton Park was the first knockout game after both sides had qualified out of their groups. The teams had faced the same clubs as the senior side in the initial group stage.
Rafa Camacho had only been on the pitch for 5 minutes when he lashed in the left footed shot that made the game safe.
Captain Ben Woodburn had started the scoring when he headed in from a cross by Neco Williams after 11 minutes.
Although the Liverpool first team are facing Porto over two legs, the knockout stages in the Youth version are just one leg and now the reds will face Man City away in the Quarter Finals.

The Citizens progressed after defeating Inter Milan yesterday 3-2 in a penalty shoot-out after the game was level 1-1 at 90 minutes. (No extra time is played)
The winners of Man City v Liverpool will face the winners of Barcelona v Atletico Madrid in the semi-final.
On the other half of the draw remains the youth sides of Tottenham and Porto. With Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Feyenoord and Real Madrid still to complete their games.
