Luis Suarez was one of many players to make a late second half appearance in the game which saw 95,000 fans turn the MCG into a sea of red and white.

The reds started with a youthful line up - Jordan Ibe yet again catching the eye with an impressive performance - although it was Raheem Sterling who went closest early on.

Joe Allen created the goal for Steven Gerrard who calmly stroked the ball to give Liverpool the first half lead.

After initial domination by LFC, our goal came against the run of play as the Australian side began to see more possession as the half wore on.

There were no changes immediately in the second half, and around the hour mark LFC's players started to fade as fitness started to become a problem.

Gerrard was replaced by Lucas Leiva to a standing ovation by the passionate Aussie support.

In the 70th minute a whole host of changes were made and Luis Suarez was amongst them - replacing Borini.

In injury time, Suarez created an opportunity which new boy Aspas snatched at to double Liverpool's lead.

This game will no doubt be talked about for Luis Suarez' cameo, but it was the Australian LFC fans who were the real stars of the show.

  1. Body language from Suarez spoke volumes. He is OFF!

Great rendition of YNWA from the Aussie reds though – decent run out and Jordan Ibe – what a player he could be for us.
