Emiliano Insua Profile

Emiliano Adrain Insua Zapata, more commonly known as Emiliano Insua, arrived at Liverpool FC in November 2006 on a loan from Argentinean giants Buenos Aires before Liverpool manager Rafael Bentiez finalized the deal in the summer of 2008.

Despite never making a first team appearance for Buenos Aires, Insua is one of many to immerge from Gary Ablett’s extremely successful Liverpool Reserve team which one the reserves league in the 2007/2008 season and he soon rose through the ranks in Liverpool FC, before making his first team debut against Portsmouth on the 28th of April 2007, and has went on to make 4 more first team appearances against the likes of Manchester City among others.

Insua holds international success also, in 2007 he made 7 appearances for the Argentina u-20 team who subsequently went onto win the u-20 world cup, and in 2008 Insua has already stepped up to the u-23 level, making one appearance thus far.

Insua now holds the number 22 for the up and coming 2008/2009 season and is currently on a 3 year contract at the club ending in 2010. (Mag)

Insua was involved in the reds Carling cup victory over Crewe at Anfield.  Injury to Fabio Aurelio and the poor form of Andrea Dossena, saw Insua taking part in the reds 3-1 away win at Blackburn in December 2008 in which the player excelled and pushed his credentials further for a starting place in the team.  After a miserable game for Dossena against Hull, Insua then went on to be selected for the away trip against Arsenal and then Bolton at home to cement his position as one of the reds biggest break-through players of 2008.

In January 2009, Insua returned to Argentina for a month to compete in the South American U20 Championships. Unfortunately Argentina were not succesfull in qualifying for the World U20's later this year.
