Liverpool reject Arsenal transfer bid for Luis Suarez

Liverpool have rejected a £30M bid from Arsenal for Luis Suarez.

Reports in the British media on Sunday night say that Liverpool immediately refused the approach from the Gunners.

Arsenal's intentions could be to flesh out a bid from Real Madrid who have not yet contacted Liverpool.  Arsenal are understood to be keen on signing Higuain from the Spanish side, but believe this move won't go through until Real Madrid make their decision over Suarez.

Madrid have been notorious in their dealings with Liverpool for leaving transfer bids to the very end of the window in order to apply maximum pressure to the selling club.  Both Michael Owen and Xabi Alonso were transferred well into pre-season preparations after a summer of disruption to the Liverpool set-up.

The reds will be hoping to avoid a similar situation with Suarez, but it is likely that Arsenal's cheeky bid could bring out more heavyweight bids.

  1. I believe Arsenal do not expect Liverpool to accept an offer for Suarez, great player with a great club. Arsenal will up the offer to 40 million pounds, if accepted it would be great. However the strategy is to drive the price up, and screw Real Madrid who are being very difficult and dishonest re the sale of Higuain to Arsenal.
