Torres out for the rest of the season

We thought the news that Torres would miss tomorrow’s West Ham game was bad enough.  The player is in Spain and unable to fly back due to the volcanic ash cloud which has shut European airspace, but the club have now confirmed more serious news.

The player is undergoing knee surgery this evening in Spain and will miss the rest of the season.

He has torn a cartilage in his right knee and will be out for a minimum of 6 weeks – bad news for Liverpool but gives him a slight chance of returning for Spain in the World Cup.

Torres was injured the last time that Liverpool met Atletico Madrid and will once again miss the reds important semi final clash with Atletico, which itself looks set to be postponed in a UEFA meeting tomorrow.

Torres out for the rest of the season

  1. yes we can blame the yanks, when are you going to get you stupid pri*** you, the yanks have at best paid some towards interest payments and thats it, no money has and will be made for any coach to spend, never mind wanting rafa out, the other manager would have to manage with a shit* budget too..

imran, you really should not follow liverpool you seem to be very blind with regards to the club and the two con men who run it,,, you need to wake up and if not go and watch and support another club,,, do not come on here when fans and people around the world are and have made this great club what it is today for then a punk like you to come on here and be as cocky as to stick up for these two c****.

h&g have nearly killed this great club,,

  2. This is what happens when you expect too much from one player even if he’s the best forward in the world.Rafa’s inability to sign another forward has left us high and dry so lets not blame the Yanks for this one.The £20 million wasted on the injury prone and always absent Aquilani could easily have been invested on a forward that we urgently required.

As terrible as the owners have been lets accept that Rafa is no Mourinho or Ferguson.

    • Yeah Fergie’s a real genius. Signing Berbatov shows that. He’s had about as much impct as Aquilani. Difference is Berbatov’s been fit most of the season and cost nearly £11m more than Aquilani. And surely it’s Rafa’s fault that Torres has started only 20 of a possible 38 league games this season, and maybe it’s Rafa’s fault that we’ve had the most injuries this year since 2004-05 (the last time we finished outside the top 4). Maybe it’s Rafa’s fault that Liverpool are trading at a profit in terms of transfers over the last 12 months (teams generally don’t do very well when they have to sell players in order to buy new ones. Teams certainly dont win titles in the abramovich era by saving money. Ask Arsene Wenger).

    • I will agree that Aquilani was a wrong choice but with all the pressure at the time to replace alonso you could see why he went for a creative mid rather than another striker. The lad just hasn’t clicked in and who knows we may see the best from him next season as apposed to this one but lets not say he went out and spent 20 mil on him because that’s not the case. It wasn’t handed over all in 1 chunk like other clubs can do because we simply don’t / didn’t have that kind of dosh, we have to go on finance and probe still owe on that loan .

But the truth is we should have pared torres up with another class player from the off and the yanks should have payed for propa investment this season instead of liquidating assets for the loan YNWA

  3. the whole club is a mess, this is because its all run by a bad hand, when you know the source of the whole situation, its been the worst time ever in liverpool’s history being owned by these cunt*.

i hate them too much its just scary….. we need huge money coming into the club and thats thats the end of the subject

  4. Its not just Raffa’s staff though this happened loads with (judas) owen, the likes of Kewell, Morrientes,Heskey, gerrard (recently) Alonso, Cisse and Fowler towards the end of his carrier. We’ve constantly had the luck of a three legged irish racehorse for years now and its not getting any better.

Im just fed up sorry im really fed up ….. it’s been one thing after another this season and im not even looking forward to the world cup any more because of it . Why cant we just have the type of luck the others get every now and then like a deflected winner ? or a 90+3 mins strike to steal three points or for the manks to fall apart once and for good lol .

  5. This should have been sorted in January when we had the chance. It is a total disgraceful decision to allow the lad to play when now is the time we need him. The medical staff and manager needs to be investigated and like the last physio who miss-assessed an injury, dismissed on the spot.

  6. We are now seeing what bad karma does to people and places and companies, life as they call it, we have been under a bad hand for 3 years and its showing what these owners have and are doing to this great club. I do not think even the most die hard Liverpool fans really know the huge problems we are no facing after the end of yankie rulership… it has been a disaster for this old club and to be real honest those wanting rafa to go are just not even looking at the complete picture of the club.

Torres out just tells you that we should have invested more, much more than just the con job patch up job that rafa was allowed to do last year, get out yanks, out.
