Liverpool will face Notts County in the 2nd Round of the League Cup.
The League Cup, rebranded the Carling Cup, was won by Liverpool two seasons back under Kenny Dalglish - when the reds beat Cardiff City in the final at Wembley.
Liverpool will be aiming to win the trophy they won in 2012.
Liverpool have not played the League One side since 1992 - then a League game, which saw the reds win 4-0 at Anfield.
The reds start in the 2nd Round as they have not qualified for Europe. Last season Liverpool beat West Brom away in the third round before being knocked out by eventual winners Swansea at Anfield in the fourth round.
The match will be played at Anfield on the week commencing August 26. Liverpool are the record winners of the League Cup - with 8 titles held.
