Klopp: ‘We have money to spend, and we have spoken to potential signings’

Jurgen Klopp said the process for improving the playing side for next season has begun in earnest and the club has money to spend on quality acquisitions.

The reds enter the final game of the Premier League campaign four places higher than last year, with a win enabling the club to finish inside the top four for just the second time in 7 years.

Player speculation has increased in recent days with the likes of Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham, Virgil Van Dijk, Mohammed Salah and Monaco's Kylian Mbappe linked with the club.

Klopp said:

"The world is not full of players who will make us better immediately but clearly there are a few out there. We have spoken to them.

"We have a really good side when our first 11, 12, 13, 14 players are fit."

The reds could finish in 3rd,4th or 5th place this season dependent on results but Klopp stressed that the club will invest irrespective of whether they make it to European football's top competition.

"The Champions League, for different reasons, is a wonderful competition. You can earn a lot of money there - that is money we did not have last year. That is very interesting and is one part of it, but we are already in a good position.

"We are a club without financial problems and we have money to spend, but it makes sense to think before we spend and that is what we are doing."

The reds welcome Middlesbrough to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
