Conor Bradley Profile
From Dungannon to Anfield
Bradley joined Liverpool from Dungannon United in September 2019 and signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2020. A Northern Irish right-back spotted as a teenager, he quickly made an impression in the academy, spending most of the 2020–21 campaign with the U23s and also featuring in the U18s side that reached the FA Youth Cup final.
Early First-Team Glimpses
On 21 September 2021, Bradley made his competitive debut, starting and playing the full 90 minutes as Liverpool beat Norwich 3–0 in the EFL Cup. A few months later he made his European debut, coming on as a late substitute at the San Siro as AC Milan were beaten 2–1. These were tantalising cameos, but regular first-team football remained out of reach at that stage.
Bolton Loan — A Turning Point
Bradley spent the 2022–23 season on loan at League One Bolton, where he was chosen as both Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year. It was exactly the kind of sustained, competitive football he needed, and he returned to Merseyside with his confidence and reputation significantly enhanced.
The Chelsea Masterclass
Bradley signed a new contract at Liverpool on 1 December 2023 and blossomed in the first team when deputising for the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold, scoring a stunning solo goal against Chelsea on 31 January 2024. He also contributed two assists in that 4–1 win, earning the Player of the Match award and a standing ovation from the Anfield crowd. It was the moment the wider football world sat up and took notice.
Personal Heartbreak
That breakthrough period was tinged with real sadness. Bradley missed a Premier League match against Arsenal following the death of his father, with Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill attending the funeral. O'Neill praised Bradley as mentally strong and spoke warmly about his resilience in returning to such form during such a difficult time.
Ongoing Injury Frustrations
The 2024–25 season proved a mixed campaign, with injuries restricting his ability to establish himself alongside Arne Slot's continued use of Trent Alexander-Arnold in his position. Recurring knocks meant he spent significant periods on the sidelines. The challenge of displacing one of the world's best right-backs — while managing his fitness — remains the central obstacle between Bradley and the consistent first-team role his talent clearly merits.
With Trent out of the picture in 2025/26 further injury setbacks affected him when he sustained ligament damage early in the season, rendering his campaign over. The arrival of Andoni Iraola and his injury record could cause further difficulty in resuming his reds career.
