The drivel written since the mid-week defeat against Besiktas has been laughable. It’s been written in the media – spoken about on Sky – and worst of all written by reds fans on most of the Liverpool FC forums.
Ten days after the UEFA Champions League final in Athens which was organised with as much strategic planning as a car boot sale, UEFA’s murky officials began to leak stories to the press about their report condeming Liverpool fans as the worst in Europe.
The exodus is well and truly underway, tens of thousands of Liverpool fans have embarked on the Greek odyssey and are arriving in Athens by the plane-load. Tonight the reds aim for their 6th European crown in a remarkable 7 finals.
Thousands of Liverpool supporters are gearing up for the trek to Athens this weekend. Some fans have already left as package deals, flights connecting through European countries and probably even Taxi’s (!) make the trek to the distant shores of the European continent.
Chelsea, the club, the players and most of all their manager unfortunately suffer from the biggest inferiority complexes known in the footballing world.
So here we are nearly in the New Year, and instead of topping the table or chasing down the leaders (as most of us expected after last season’s great league performance and summer purchases) here we are stuck in a rut amongst the pack chasing the Champions League places.
Remember the good old days when the team photo was delivered early August, in the centre pages of Shoot or Match.
Liverpool’s team photo for this season was finally released today (yes it is November) and I haven’t yet decided if it is a huge disappointment or comical genius.
It’s nearly World Cup time and I am hopelessly unprepared. I haven’t got a massive new telly, I certainly haven’t got ‘High Definition’, I haven’t got an England shirt, bought an England song or planned how I am going to get out of work before that 5pm kick off game. In fact I haven’t even got any beers in the fridge yet.
So here we are three games in to the season, and with a win, a draw and a defeat to our name. Last week’s game at Bolton was far from satisfactory, and it followed another poor display at home to Austrain Champions Graz AK. But on the whole I still believe the reds are progressing. [...]
